Cookies and browser storage
Updated October 17, 2026. Use Your privacy choices on any page to allow or block optional features. Rejecting does not prevent use of the simulations.
Necessary preferences
space-era-privacy-v2 stores the notice version, time, coarse region, choice source and separate analytics/video choices in local storage for up to 180 days. The space-era-analytics cookie mirrors the analytics choice and time so the server can block analytics destinations before consent. Neither is used as an advertising ID. You may download your current choice in settings. This is a browser record, not a centralized consent history.
Requested functionality
Bookmarks, watch-panel expansion, mission graphics and video alignment use space-era- local-storage keys. They remain until cleared. The optional diagnostic lab can save a local performance report containing browser/device details; it does not upload that report automatically. Clear these in privacy choices or your browser.
Optional analytics
Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_B4N8EQC7Y3 cookies after consent. They distinguish browser visits for measurement, with a configured maximum age of 180 days and no per-visit expiry renewal. No analytics tag loads before permission. On withdrawal we disable collection, clear these first-party cookies and reload under a policy that blocks analytics connections. This cannot undo a request already in flight or erase data already held by Google.
Optional video providers
YouTube and X embeds load only after separate video permission and remain blocked when Global Privacy Control is active. Their cookies and storage are controlled by those providers; lifetimes vary. Blocking removes players, but clearing their cookies requires browser controls. External source links remain available.
Signals and jurisdiction
We detect broad region using server-provided location metadata; precise location permission is never requested. The current implementation requires analytics consent in all regions. Unknown locations receive the same protection. GPC takes priority over saved optional permissions. Turning off GPC does not itself grant consent.
